Re: Foundation Licence
The Foundation course next weekend on the 19/20th November is going to be busy. Last I heard, the course was full, with a waiting list in case anyone doesn't confirm their place...

Re: Foundation Licence
There's another Foundation course coming up in a couple of weeks, on the weekend of the 17th/18th.
If anyone's interested in studying for their Foundation licence, now is a perfect time. Not too hot, not too chilly.

Re: Foundation Licence
Six people on this weekend's Foundation course, most of whom have played with some form of radio before, be it CB, volunteer fire brigade, etc.
I have a funny feeling at least one or two are sneaky WARSUG'ers - come on, out yourselves!

Re: Foundation Licence
Another successful Foundation course completed. All the candidates were great and they should all fare well next weekend for their exams.
Got a busy day next Saturday - not only do we have the six people from the Foundation course, but there's also people sitting every other type of exam - Foundation, Standard, Advanced, Regs and Practicals. It'll be a full-on day!

Re: Foundation Licence
Wow, what a day!
Today, Ham College held it's usual two-monthly exam session for people who've just completed the Foundation Course and for anyone else wishing to sit an exam as well.
In total, twelve separate exams were conducted, for every class of licence. We had people doing the Foundation assessment, some doing Standard, some doing Regulations and even one doing Advanced.
Everyone came well prepared, and all twelve exams were passes which was great to see.
Well done to all, especially the three WARSUG'ers who will be getting Foundation licences in the mail in the next few weeks. A little birdy tells me that a couple more from here are possibly interested also!

Re: Foundation Licence
Well I was one of those 6 sitting the Foundation License exam...OMG talk about exam nerves taking over!! I forgot everything at first!! The written exam I passed...even after making dumb mistakes! Read the questions properly they said....did I listen? Well I thought I had LOL
Time came for the practical...once again exam nerves took over and you guessed it..mental block once again!! But after much stress I Got it together and passed that to... [-o<
What a harrowing experience ...I have always suffered at exam time...some things never change apparently LOL
Having said it was a harrowing experience for me...I loved every second of it and would do it all again!
The instructors were excellent and the course quite informative...must get my nerves under control when I go for my standard license.....yes thats right...its not going to beat me and I WILL do it... =D> =D>

Re: Foundation Licence
Good job Squiddly.
I've been a ham on and off since 1978. I had to do the prac exam a couple of years ago to get my advanced call and I was just as nervous. I made stupid basic mistakes as well Kathi was pretty good about it. Ham College has a great reputation nationally.

Re: Foundation Licence
The only prac exam back then was CW. There was Novice, Limited and Full licence. I had Novice which was more or less like Standard. Limited licence was the same as full licence but without the CW requirement (HF was out of bounds for Limited). VHF and UHF was out of bounds for Novice. I think we were allowed the same HF bands as Foundation is now.
I more or less inherited the Standard level when everthing was restructured (in 2005 I think?) which means we gained VHF and UHF for free Limited licences became full licences because CW was no longer a requirement (hoorah!)
Anybody else who is still has a Novice certificate since before that time will also have to do the prac if they want to upgrade to advanced.
I found out most of the above here at WARSUG when I got the urge to get a callsign again. People here pointed out I didn't have to start from scratch and do all the exams etc.
The prac exam requirement was a surprise when I upgraded though. I was waiting for the new callsign when Ham College got an email saying I needed to do it.
