VK100WIA - Super Springtime

For those who may not be aware, amateurs from various WA radio clubs are combining their energies to host a two-location display of radio.

These two locations are the Wireless Hill Museum in Ardross and the Royal Show.

Check out the WIA website for more details on Super Springtime:

http://www.wia.org.au/newsevents/centen ... ate_ref=48

If you're heading to the Royal Show this year, please give the "shack" a visit. We're co-located with the Scouts in their area. Plus, if you've never see the Wireless Hill museum, now would be a fantastic time to do so!

Also, if you look up "VK100WIA Super Springtime" in your favourite search engine, you may find some videos of the activities ;)

I think the Scouts and VK100WIA are very close to the Claremont station entrance.

Yep, either Gate 1 or the train station entrance are the ones closest to where the Scouts and VK100WIA are operating from.

If you're an amateur, give us a call on either 146.500 or 439.000 simplex. Both are monitored. We're also monitoring VK6RAP 2m on 146.700 and VK6RFM on 146.950 most of the time as well.

If you're not an amateur but still want to find us, enter the Scouts area, and we're behind the log bridge, next to the "air rockets" (you'll know it when you see it)...

If you're at the showgrounds tomorrow (Friday), please stop in and say hi, we aren't getting as many people coming to talk to us as we'd like ;)

My contributions to the log for today. It's slightly awesome that there are over 20,000 contacts now in the VK100WIA log, with nearly 2,000 of them being during Super Springtime!

...or hear it. Those rockets are bloody annoying.

So if the tally is correct, we made over 2,000 contacts during Super Springtime.

The WIA Online Logbook has:

487 for WICEN WA
506 for the Scouts Technology Team
637 for the WA Repeater Group, and
501 for the VHF Group.

Total: 2,131 contacts and at the end of the Super Springtime block 20,472 entries had been logged.

Well done to everyone who participated!

A pretty good effort. I hope Heath got his video of the 20,000th contact. It's great to see the various clubs combining their efforts and working together for the greater cause.

It is - especially since none of the clubs in any other state (to my knowledge, anyway) banded together like this to achieve something.
