UHF Connectors

Post by VK6 - PETER »

Hello

I would appreciate a recommendation (based on experience) on where I could source some good UHF connectors (PL-259s for RG-58 and RG-213). Ideally a balance of quality and value.

I am finding it harder to locate stores (in Perth) that stock them and the connectors that I have found appear to be not of a high quality and a bit temperamental to solder.

Perhaps you look to the East for a supplier. If this is the case, please let me know.

Regards

WA CB have them, although personally I think they are overpriced. Some clubs also sell them. We have them at the HARG club meetings. Prestige sell them here and here but I can't comment on the quality.

Check out Jaycar and Altronics. I've had no problems with theirs.

Agreed.

Just be careful with RG58 connectors. The nice folks at the stores aren't always careful to make sure the 75 Ohm connectors for RG59 security camera work don't end up in the RG58 bin :)

I have given up on sourcing connectors from local shops, and now get them on eBay from China.

Most of the time you can get them for <$3 each with free postage, and they take about a week to arrive.

In recent times I've got good quality connectors for RG-213 from Mini-Kits in South Australia (www.minikits.com.au).
