The Tic Hill digipeater works so well it's hard to know how well other digis in the area are working.
RTH-3 was digipeating the VK4 station near Gin Gin a couple of days ago, middle of the day.
For what it's worth, TNC-3 is the only digipeater north of the river that I can't hear direct to Ballajura.

VK6ZUK didn't get a lot of packets in this morning. I wonder if its using a too high gain antenna thats shooting over the Great Eastern Hwy ?

Same spot as before with VK3BAK. I'm surprised he lost RTH so soon.

Yeah, right through The Lakes and Beechina no problem. Did you change something?

Quite possibly. You wouldn't think lift would have that much effect so close.

This is from the OzAPRS mailing list:

This is to give notice of a intended Baloon launch this weekend. The baloon could reach altitudes giving it as much as a 800km footprint. They will be running APRS as well as a few other things. Callsign should be VK5ZSN-11on APRS

LAUNCH TIME IS EXPECTED TO BE 01:30 UTC (23/10/10). But thats all hanging on the weather conditions.

All,

I am putting together all the gear to test from Lesueur National Park just north of the Jurien Bay road. The site is 300 mtrs AMSL and will use the same antenna and height as TNC and try to access thru Tic Hill. It's near on half way to Geraldton and appears to be the highest hill between PTH and GTN on the coastal strip. Will keep you informed when it goes up.

Excellent Craig!
Will be interesting to see how well it performs especially when tropo is about.

Hi Rick,

If I have done my sums right, it should have direct coverage to Tic Hill and GTN should hit it full time. The Diamond F23 antenna , I have found, to be an absolute pearler for distance. Granted I need to find the right locations to make sure the signal doesn't go over the top. I think with the Lesueur National Park site, it is far enough towards the coast to provide excelent coverage for the Brand to the north and south. If succesful, a voice repeater will be investigated for the site also. but more of that later.

Cheers

Lamby
