Here's part of what I sent on OZAPRS

The equipment consists of a Kantronics KPC-3 (non plus, v8.2), an FM-92 kindly donated by Ham College, a home made j-pole (at roof level), a home made PSU and a 12Ah SLAB backup. This will shortly evolve to an Argent Data Tracker2, a Peet Bros Ultimeter 2100 Wx, a much better PSU and a Comet GP-5 tower mounted. Feedback can go to my email or as indicated in the digi status reports.

Also, thanks to VK6ZMS Martin for the loan of the KPC-3.

The EPROM in the FM-92 has 145.175 on Ch 59 at the moment. That should be OK for now with the battery backup.

Edit: Also, the PHG (and hence the range estimation) is based on the final antenna set-up we plan on using, not the current setup which is lower gain and lower physically. Not that the PHG system is very accurate anyway.

When the weather clears up HARG will be putting the collinear on the HF tower. Also waiting for a new product from TET-Emtron
that will allow us to use our yagi on 40 meters.
The HARG digipeater also waits for Tic Hill 6RTH-3 to go first to avoid congestion and packet collisions.

There is a bit of ducting tonight. The Mt Barker digipeater is forwarding packets to Perth via Pinjarra.

Looks like APRS is spreading. There was a slight mention on NewsWest that there was an interest in Geraldton.

I had a look today and noticed this.

I think I also heard they are putting up a digipeater too.
Now we just need the Bunbury guys to install one at 6RBY

There is little interest in APRS at the moment in Bunbury. There is a digipeater in Bunbury but it does not communicate with the network. I can digipeat to VK6KSB if I do it manually but it does not resend APRS traffic.

It might be a case of "build the network and the users will come". VK6RVP and my Igate opperated for years without a single user... but when interest started warming up a functioning digipeater and Igate was all ready to go.

Yes, my GPS gadget seems to be a bit free and easy with its speed and altitude measurements.

But it does explain that sinking feeling I had right about then!
