Another hillbilly! :D :smt041

Danny - I've been able to get it fine from home in Mt Helena, though it's a bit hit and miss when mobile through Stoneville and Mundaring. I'll try it again this evening and let you know how it goes.
Was that 5 watts?

Yep - the handheld with a whip mounted on the bonnet of the car.

I tried it again on the way home tonight - I was driving so just checked for "beeps". Back of the Mundaring shops was excellent. Stoneville Rd down to level with Parkerville was mostly a "no", but picked up after Riley Rd and was good but a bit scratchy for a few k's then pretty good into Mt Helena. It's good to be on top of a hill :)

I have found that the Yaesu handheld isn't as sensitive as the Quansheng, so it might do better. A proper "mobile" unit would probably be better again.

VK6RBY repeater is back on air as of today. Location is now Harvey. I just had a QSO with ZRT Bob who commissioned it. 140km from here. Signal varied from 0 to 5 with a bit of help from tonight's conditions.

Can hear it here as well. Signal varies quite rapidly from almost S7 to S1.

Hello to All,

Today a group of local amateur operators headed down to Albany and installed the VK6RAL 70cm repeater at Mt Clarence.

The installation went quite smoothly and the repeater is now on air.

Excellent
vk6jrc wrote:The repeater frequency is 438.725MHz (-5.00 MHz offset).

I think this is the first 70cm repeater on air in regional WA (ie: outside of Perth metro area)
Seems to be the first, according to the WIA repeater directory. (Same freq as VK6RNA)

(Moved to Repeater thread by me)

Freo repeater is off air due to a carrier on the input frequency (in case you're wondering Doug2 and James)

oh righto, that explains why in fremantle last night I could talk to James on Walliston, but not even get a beep out of Freo! :P

The carrier on the input has been :smt071 so the repeater is back online, however echolink and IRLP are offline for the moment while VK6DN is unavailable
