The 12V Shop sell portable coffee makers. Almost bought one but I had already spent way too much.

Jaycar also have a 12v kettle

and a 12v coffee maker
http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.as ... rm=KEYWORD
I suspect it'd be quicker to boil a billy on some sticks though

Eeek... 12v DC kettle that plugs into the cigarette lighter? You'd be really pushing it to get even 4 or 5 amps through the cars ACC wiring! I like the honest disclaimer though. I bet it takes about 15 minutes to boilmeg wrote:Jaycar also have a 12v kettle

A bit like those lame USB "geek toys" such as coffee cup warmers and soda can coolers etc. 5v DC with hardly any current

Until I got a good dose of 'can be bothered to wire it properly' I was running the FT-8900R in the car from the accessory socket in the Mitsubishi 380. Got a solid 8-9 amps out of the thing!Bonez wrote: Eeek... 12v DC kettle that plugs into the cigarette lighter? You'd be really pushing it to get even 4 or 5 amps through the cars ACC wiring! I bought a kettle from 12V shop. It draws 8 amps and boils in about 20 minutes (about 2 cups) You'd want to set it up and turn it on before the amateur radio equipment (<- on topic bit)meg wrote:Jaycar also have a 12v kettle

I have one of those! Not that exact brand, but very like it. Works, but as others have said, don't be in a hurry for a cuppameg wrote:Jaycar also have a 12v kettle

The coffee machine was no kettle at all - Grinding the coffee, fluffing up the milk and a little chocolate sprinkled on top! =D>

Not to mention the blow heater keeping you warm all day, I'd like to see the lighter socket stand up to that let alone the little red generatorVK6LD wrote:The coffee machine was no kettle at all - Grinding the coffee, fluffing up the milk and a little chocolate sprinkled on top! =D>

G'day Martin,
We probably had 40M of electrical cable out as the radiator - Tied from the verandah post out to a tree, then right angles across to another tree.
Used the verandah post (and hopefully the verandah itself) as the counterpoise.
I could only get 15 Meters of wire out, needless to say it didn't tune up too well on the MFJ auto tuner.

It was a wee bit chilly, wet & windy on the Saturday putting up the antennas - You definitely should've joined us out at Lake Nunijup Derek & Martin.Radzeck wrote:Not to mention the blow heater keeping you warm all day, I'd like to see the lighter socket stand up to that let alone the little red generatorVK6LD wrote:The coffee machine was no kettle at all - Grinding the coffee, fluffing up the milk and a little chocolate sprinkled on top! =D>

Well, as Nathan and I found out the other week, the nice warm mulled wine from the Earl of Spencer does the trick on a chilly night!!!VK6LD wrote:You just need a bottle of port and some red wine to warm the cockles of your heart!
