I'll be there for a while, but have other commitments later in the morning so won't be staying for the whole thing.

I think we're all busy playing with our new toys ;-)

This was my first Hamfest, I was amazed at the number of people there! There was HEAPS of stuff on sale, some good prices from the retailers as well as an array of odd bits and pieces from all of the clubs plus a number of individuals.

Saw a couple of 70's (?) era HF radios for sale, and a huge number of FM 900's and 828's. A fantastic, fridge-sized 1kw linear amp was going for ~$300 but I don't think anyone brought a forklift with them to move it!

We came home with a couple of boxes of "stuff" which Simon is happily rummaging through now. I picked up a second hand FT-857 plus a mobile HF antenna and the cable and software for it too - a big "thankyou!" to the Yaesu chap from VK3 who read my email and brought that along for me ;-) Oh, and an old school set of headphones which cut out external noise very convincingly.

Not sure about everyone else, but the HARG table managed to sell most of the gear that we had on it.

Met a few "voices" which was good, as well as catching up with a number of peeps I had already met. Missed out on meeting a couple of WARSUGger's that were there but I don't know their faces - perhaps next time!

Yes, we are playing. Got everything I was hoping for except I would have liked a better SWR meter. This one will do anyway in the portable kit of stuff. Also got some things I needed but didn't expect to see, so bonus there. I indulged in one of those LED scrolly name badges as well :-)

Got a new handheld and lots of other bits and pieces. Good to catch up with old friends and colleagues. Only met up with a couple of warsugers, maybe next time. Makes for a long day from the country (longer for some than others for the Mt Barker boys)

I picked up a 2 meter radio for the work car at a good price. There were a few gems hidden away like a FT 290R for $30.

Your 2 metre was a good price. I've seen the 50w version selling for a lot more on vkham.

Yeah not attending also had the distinct advantage of not being able to spend money I only just have on stuff I can barely afford that I don't really need when I'll be getting a loan shortly for a motorbike.
