Kalgoorlie Amateur Repeater is back on air

Post by Danger Mouse »

VK6RAK is the callsign of the Kalgoorlie 2 metre repeater. It is back on air. It is on 147.000MHZ with an input on 146.400MHz. It is not yet linked to IRLP or Echolink. The antenna is at 30 feet in Boulder, and the coverage is not yet fully plotted.

A better Location is being looked for.

But at least it is back.

6RAK mark 1 gave great coverage from the Hainault mine poppet head. Shame the super pit ate it.

I have watched Perth TV channels 7 and 9 in Kalgoorlie. They disappeared when the
local channel 8 TV transmitter was turned on.

I'll be in Kalgoorlie this Friday and will put out a few calls from the handheld if there are any other WARSUGgers in that area.

I hope you have more luck than me on country repeaters, not many people come back to my calls.

According to Telstra I live in a regional area - I just work (mainly) in the metro area!

Well, I called a few times around lunchtime but didn't get any responses - great signal back from the repeater though!

try in the evening, might get luckier then. I'd say they'd not have had access to radio's at lunch...like me :(...should try my handheld again from my new spot... but good to hear that it's working well.

Had my first QSO on the Kalgoorlie repeater today with VK7BW who is driving around Australia. He also hadn't been able to contact anyone else on the repeater, seems like it's a bit quiet out there!
