Did you buy the HARG tower Doug? Gonna take a lot more than that to get an M270 to perform

haha no not the HARG one, Mick XYL (I get confused between his and Kylea's callsign) called me today about another tower that is available. No I won't be putting up the M270 on it either. VK6ZMS was kind enough to give me an antenna to use for the moment, so that'll go up and get me on 2m and then I'll start learning how to build/construct/tune and everything else a yagi and purchase a rotator. Once that's been done I'll upgrade the 2m antenna to one that will cover 70cm so I can hit wanneroo and chat to Fastlane occasionally. Oh and the tower is an aluminium 3 stage 20 footer, unknown if any other periferals are included but I doubt it.

Oh and on my current setup...Walliston repeater is Loud and Clear.

XYL means x-young-lady (ie wife). Mick is now VK6IN so problem solved

I get RLM nicely from up where I am, but everyone is always on RAP. hmpf.

I usually call around 6.15AM and just after 3.30PM. My hours don't seem to line up with many others.

Well I think I have a dodgy piece of coax in the line...I've just been trying to get through and it seems only every 3rd or 4th PTT button press will trigger the repeater
occasionally i'll get a hiss like Wanneroo gives but not the beep. Tried changing a connector which I thought was a bit dodge even though it looked good but no change. Looks like I'll have to wait for the powersupply, to arrive and hopefully the tower soon too before I work non-mobile.

That pogo stick I gave you has very low SWR, to start with buy a length of RG 213 and mount it a couple of meters above your roof.
