It's a real pity that there are no decent AR shops in Perth. There's a few 'dealers' around but half the time you want something they give you the old story 'yeeeh mate, well I've gotta order it in from over east, the postage is expensive so I'm gonna jack my price right up oh, and it might be a week or so".

To some of us younger fellas that is not acceptable. We decide we want something; and we want it now. That's what they call our generation. The NOW generation
Perth is really poor for that. Get used to buying your stuff from the east or at least waiting for it to arrive in Perth + paying for the postage + retail that the local dealer usually puts on top of it.

Sometimes it's better to get it directly from Sydney, but I must say that Hamshack are very cheap for most things and are worth a look. Even if they don't have what you want; chances are they can get it, and they won't rip you off - even though you might have to wait "till it comes from the east"

I can't see any ham-specific gear on either site. Plenty of accessories though

Anyone purchased from http://www.prestigecom.net.au ?? I'm looking at buying another scanner and they appear to have good prices, while I don't like who they use to ship goods out with I am wondering what experiences have had with them.

i got my usb data transfer cable for my gps off them, cheap but terriable customer service. will go back to them when i upgrade my 4wd uhf though, 380 odd bucks for an icom 400 is pretty darn good imo

I purchased a Yaesu of them with no postage dramas. A mate in Melbourne was happy with the delivery of a hand held.

I've had no problems with them. I've bought 2 scanners, a gps, an, amateur handheld and mobile amateur radio from them, the only hiccup was I receive the wrong seperation kit but they sorted that pretty quickly.

Like the others,no drama's... I bought a PCR-1500 from them a couple of years ago. Overnight delivery and price was good..

There is also Tower Communications in Hazelmere. He is Icom I know for sure, and possibly kenwood and yeasu, but the website lags behind.

I am an Icom user, and have no complaints with the service.

I have also bought Mail Order from Andrews in Sydney.

Get more hams in VK6, and maybe they can afford to carry the stock. With the fluctuating dollar it is very risky.

The West Australian Repeater group stock good co-ax at reasonable but not hardline coax. Good for Mobile installation anyway. At the moment we are out of connectors and the only ones we could access were rubbish.
