My licence just arrived yesterday, 5 weeks after my callsign appeared on the database
I notice the tax portion is a dollar less and the licence part is a dollar more that it was this time last year. Also I notice that I paid for 365 days and only got 355. Anybody else with a recent callsign get the same? Zebedee?

Re: Advanced Licence
Just done the advanced exam in Mt Barker last weekend, found it easier than the standard exam.
Past it with ease.

You will blitz it Meg
Don't do what I did the night before my advanced exam. I smoked a few big cigars and had one too many Becks.
Didn't feel to well on exam day

Re: Advanced Licence
Whats the deal with the prac? if you have had ur licence longer then 5 yrs then u have to do that as well?
What type of practical is it? or do they change it up?
I looked into getting mine upgraded thru prior learning (being a Tech by trade) but it seems like even more work then just going for the exam.
why do WIA make every thing so hard?

Re: Advanced Licence
You have to do the prac if you've never done it before. Usually this will be for people who got their NAOCP and still are. I went through the same. There's info on the WIA website regarding the prac. When I did the advanced exam, they forgot I had to do the prac as well I had to got back a few weeks later. It should be the same one everybody has to do now. Identify different types of transmission line, connectors, components. Show you can operate an HF rig and an FM rig on simplex. Explain how you might make a choke balun etcVK6 NDT wrote:Whats the deal with the prac? if you have had ur licence longer then 5 yrs then u have to do that as well?

Re: Advanced Licence
I got 88% on the exam without doing the course and I'm not the brightest LED on the display. Anybody that can pass the standard exam with flying colours shouldn't have too many problems!slipknot wrote:well, Missed out on last years, but now The next one is coming up in about 20 or so days.
