Hi all, every now and then today ive heard anoucement voice coming over the repeters.
sure, there are the general ones one the irlp repeaters that annouce when someone connects but ive also heard ones coming over the lesmerdie repeater, the tic hill 70 cm repeater saying thinks like "link enabled" or something like that.

I heard POP on Tic Hill 2m a few times today and yesterday, but not on other 2m repeaters. Dunno about 70cm. I also heard somebody trying to dial something on RLM. Might have been a WARGer changing a setting or something?

VK6POP is the amateur that looks after the Tic Hill Repeater. He is also the Commisioner for radio activities in Scouts, National JOTA Coordinator, a WIA Director, a Choir singer, and a spare time crane driver. OK, not the cranes. yet.
He often uses echolink, and is proably responsible for the voices you hear.
Note that the Scouts have a 2 metre repeater under construction, to be licenced on a mobile basis like WICEN's repeaters for use at Scouting Events. It will also take the strain off the regular repeaters during JOTA.
The only repeater linking in this area at this time is when the news is run on Sunday, mornings and evenings, but that only involves VK6RAP and the country repeaters to the south.
But we will be working on it.
If at first you dont succeed, give up skydiving
