Anywhere from a couple of days to a week I'd say :-)

For all my callsigns, ACMA took less than 2 days to process once there were indications WIA had processed something. YMMV of course.

Interesting. It has been over one week since the wia has advised acma that I has passed and recommended my callsign (well that's what my letter said anyway)

maybe I'll leave it a few days and then chase it up again with the wia and/or acma

I want to use my standard call for the john moyal in the coming weeks

Just spoke to the WIA - apprently there is a backlog waiting to be processed at ACMA - so the turn around time could exceed 6wks....

Its been 2wks since i have got my paperwork from the WIA - and my desired call has disappeared from the public list - however just waiting on the ACMA to get the paperwork done ....

That's usually a good sign :)

sure is a good sign - however the problem is with the time the ACMA is taking - i was hoping to use my new call this weekend - however it is looking that maybe next year i can use it :?:

Nothing on the ACMA register - seems weird that it taking so long from submission to completion.....

6wks seems a little long for processing - however nothing to do but wait ..

It is a bit of a long time but unfortunately not completely unheard of.

Perhaps there was a flood of applications to the ACMA, or maybe they have people on leave, etc.

Unfortunately it's in the lap of the gods... Not much else to do but wait -- the hardest part! :)

Tonight saw the end of the 2011 Ham College Standard course. Five people sat exams this evening and all five passed with very good scores.

We can all expect some new upgraded callsigns to become active in a few weeks' time. Well done, gents!

(As a point of trivia - Ham College has conducted nineteen exams in the past five or so weeks. It's been a busy time!)

As a participant in the 2011 Standard course intake, I can vouch for the way this course is run.

I put off upgrading from an F call for far too long. Great facilitators, guess speaker, demonstrations and course material. You will be totally prepared for the final exam.

It was a very rewarding experience.

Just DO IT!!

Peter (awaiting new call)

Also if you are wanting to get an advanced license keep going the whole year.
One person in my advanced course a few years ago had 12 months break between standard and advanced and struggled to recall some of theory.

Ham College's 2012 Standard course begins next month, and if there's anyone with a Foundation licence who would like to upgrade, or anyone who'd like to skip Foundation and go straight in at Standard level ....... there's still room on the course!

Go to www.hamcollege.com.au or PM myself if you want any more info!

A bit of good news from Tuesday night. Eight people sat exams at Ham College. Seven for the full regulations exam and one for the whole lot - regs, Standard theory and a practical.

Happy to report that we had a 100% pass rate from the night. Our Standard course continues now with the theory component until around June-ish where the students will sit their theory exam and hopefully upgrade their licence class! :)

Tonight was the last night of the Ham College Standard course for 2013 and the students sat their exams.

Happy to report that there will be five new Standard callsigns appearing in the next few weeks. Three of them from memory are upgrades from Foundation and the other two are people who are new to the bands.

Depending on how things go on the weekend, another 16 exams are being sat by people for all grades of licence so there could be even more yet! :)

Although I didn't study at ham college for my exams, as I live down south, I did make use of their services and sit my exams on the weekend. From the mood of the people who had finished their exams I think the majority were successful and now it's a waiting game for a new call sign.

My foundation licence expired last week so instead of renewing it I just sat regs+std and applied for a new licence. Now the study for advanced will begin because who doesn't want to know more about the internal workings of a radio right?
