Fastlane,

Have a look at the IC-7000 and the iphone, they on a bracket by holdmyphone. I genreally keep them in stock but only for newer commodores. I get them in overnight though.

For mobile i used to have the FT-7800, nice mobile dual bander for starting out! Its in the shack now.
Yeah, theres 1 more bracket I'll need, as 2 of the clic-on spots are already taken up with the mobile & ipod. Do you know if you can get the Z brackets (for the antenna) for the VE? Also mindful that I shouldn't put anything near the engine computer from talking to Zebedee yesterday.. have to work out where it is I guess!

I was looking at the FT-8800 because I like the idea of dual receive (as I'll be putting in the FESA WAERN frequencies for monitoring).. however, I've spotted the FT-8900R for about $50 more.. it'll be one or the other depending on how much everything else costs.

...and people thought my car was bad :P!

Don't think I travel enough to warrant having HF on the car.

Handy if you want to take a trip to a better location than your QTH. Like up to the Zig Zag or something.

The best spot I have found for mobile HF DX in the metro area is the Nth Mole Freo.

hahaha oi! Well if I get mobile HF then I won't get home base HF for a long time and I'd rather have that.

I'm sure there would be quite a bit of activity on the zig zag that isn't 'appropriate' for HF (or any other band!) :P

NO! I don't want anymore fires lit!!! There aren't enough natural anchors for SRT and Cliff Rescues as it is never mind burning off more of them. As for any other activity, well I wouldn't know about that :P

Someone doesn't want me to have my new antenna :(.
Here's the email, says it all really, I think he's a bit frustrated too :P
Hi Doug,
Those fools at Oz Post have returned your antenna to me, I
have resent it via Express Post today, bag number is #########, should be
there in a day or so, ? what else could go wrong, I have dismantled the
antenna to fit in the bag, all it will take is to put one section together
with the Allen key provided.
Shall swing past Dick Smith Midland and hopefully they have the correct base for it. Oh and nobody think of anything bad that could happen to it along the way! Everyone should be thinking happy thoughts about now, such as Doug going to have a better antenna etc.

If its a super gainer, I doubt DSE will have the correct base... they take a SO-259 on the base, don't they?

I'll be having the fun you've had shortly, undoubtedly!
