Perth 10 metre repeater

Post by vk6hgr »

Hi Folks.

Can anyone with 10M FM gear give me a signal report on the 29.680MHz repeater? I'm able to trigger it here but the signal is incredibly weak. Wondering if it's an antenna fault here or if the repeater's not healthy.

G'day Gav,

Some action in the VK6HGR shack! The RX is still up in the hills at Bedfordale and the TX is on the flat at Maddington.

Also take a listen on 440.375MHz which is the link frequency between the 2 sites to see how the RX site is hearing you. The link frequency is horizontally polarised, but would be pointing in your direction.

It is S2 here (Yokine) using a horizontal G5RV.

Wrong polarity I know, but the repeater should be doing better than that, shouldn't it?

The T/X on the flats is doing it no favors.
I will get a mate to have a go when he gets home. He has a 3 element yagi and a better view east.

Try a 27MHz CB whip if you are really stuck.

I have worked through the repeater mobile from Ellenbrook in it's current location (albeit noisy), so it should be OK at your place Gav.

Gav,

I am at the bottom of Kalamunda hill (not far from Midland). I have a scanner and mobile antenna which can receive that freq.

Let me know if you wanna do a test via IM or mobile etc ;)

I can just get the link channel - my signal is incredibly noisy in even with high power. Looks like I need to shift mr antenna.

Works quite well from a Mobile setup just running a standard 27Mhz Whip with some tuning modifications

Has anyone heard any of the other 10M repeaters like VK3RHF?

VK5RSC in Adelaide on 29.620MHz is also a regular on 10M FM.

Thanks folks. Looks like I'll be set for when the solar cycle picks up in 2 or 3 years :-)
