its on a massive pole :P

...anyone else thinking of getting one? They seem to be pretty good and I'm in the stage of plucking up the courage to go buy a set for at home rather than just the car. Hopefully I can get a better signal to Roleystone and don't have to drive to the IGA car park and use Fremantle repeater :P

As Tyranus said, X-50 on top of a mast.. you should be able to just see the radials about 1/5th of the way down from the top in the first pic. The height and RG213 has improved things.. I've set every metro repeater back to 5 watts.

Doug, I reckon you could mount an X-50 on the car.. certainly could on mine, but you'd probably be better off with the Comet SB-15 http://www.strictlyham.com.au/specials.htm @ $85+p/p which has the same specs for 2/70 and also works on 6m. Requires a decent SO-239 type base

I saw another Getz the other day with hedgehog syndrome. He even had an Outbacker HF antenna on the tow ball - about 3-4 meters long!

Starting to feel that I need to put more antennas on my ute - don't neccesarily need more radios in there, but just to keep up appearances with the neighbours you know... 8)

ahhh I was chatting the one evening to a guy who mentioned he often chatted to the guy that drives that car. I'd forgotten about that until just then! I'd joked that I'd get an auto tune HF for my getz and he told me it's already been done :(.

yeah if I remember correctly Slipknot didn't have the radials on when he was down south, because it performed better without them? Maybe try again with them on now that you're in Perth.
