Shuttle Audio

Post by ConstableCare »

Sounds like some Shuttle and ISS Audio is coming thru on 438.425MHz. I have this programmed in on my scanner as Victoria Park so im guessing it's coming in via some IRLP link?

It was on the Fremantle repeater about 10:00 last night as I was driving home from a meeting... So yeah I'd say NASA are streaming audio from an IRLP node or something like that.

Yep - and someone has chosen to air it. They were doing it on RNC some time back. Annoyed the hell out of me as I wanted to use the repeater but had no way of disconnecting the link. (I had an old radio...)

Shuttle audio streams aren't technically amateur radio, but they have broad amateur interest so I reckon they're a good idea.

Seems to me that it's no more relevant than somebody playing a WAERN or Westrail channel over a repeater one way. If they were using callsigns and we could talk back... THAT would be cool.

You didn't have a mobile phone handy? You can set most phones up to make the DTMF beep sound every time a number is dialed and then hold the radio mic up to the phone, dial 73 and bobs your aunty
