Hopefully the PA protection did its job and the radio power wound down to near nothing.

Short? It was into a 50 ohm pet
I am sure the "Back End" or the radio will still be a little bit sore!!!

There's been a bit of a setback in the form of "canine vs feedline" - the feedline lost.

It'll be back on air once the feed-lines can be repaired ;)
Was back on-air yesterday day-time and then off again last night?? Me thinks it should have gone to Wallyston!

Still off-air this morning :?:

It will be off air for the time being while further works are undertaken before being moved to it's permanent location sometime soon-ish.

As for where it should or shouldn't have been located - that's a matter for the beacon's owners to decide. Feel free to contact Ham College directly regarding this.

So when is the Beacon likely to go back on-air? It started with a big "fanfare" announcement just before Christmas and was off-air a week later?? :?:

Maybe it should have gone to Walliston after all - might be still on-air if it had....

It will be back as soon as practically possible. When that is, I have no further information.

The location of the beacon is irrelevant to to the reason why it's not on-air at the moment.

Someone must be doing some tinkering... I know there was something going to be going on, once the right people had some time. I guess this is "time" :)

Well .......

We chose it as "IB" for Information Beacon - it was others who made the RIB / PIG / Ham connection, but hey, if it works!

For anyone interested, there's some changes coming to VK6RIB in the next few weeks. One of the changes will be in the playlist and scheduling.

In short, instead of a single hourly loop, we're looking at changing to TWO loops, referred to internally as "odd" and "even" hours.

If we assume that the "odd" hour is going to be what's there currently (WIA news, NewsWest, Helpline and Club Info), is there anything that anyone would be particularly interested in hearing for the "even" hours? We're looking at the moment to find a way of integrating the Old Timers broadcast in there somehow, but if there's anything else radio-related that people think might be interesting, please let us know!
