Other people talking on your station

This subject came up on air a few days ago - allowing others to talk on your station while you are present. I thought this post at vklogger might make interesting reading for all. Foundation calls should take note, especially one I hear doing just that some evenings

Good post. It's one of the things that we actually "lost" when the new LCD came out. Before then, simply talking into the microphone wasn't considered to be "operating" the station. But since the 2008 revision to the LCD was published, now it is.

And the new LCD has specific provisions in there for Standard and Advanced calls allowing people to use the microphone (otherwise, how would we ever do any training??), but Foundation calls are specifically excluded.

I was an F-call when the LCD change came in and I remember feeling slighly miffed at the idea that I could no longer let someone talk into the microphone even with me present and operating all the controls.

Ah well ... we win some, we lose some ;)

Yep, we talked about this at Ham College when I did the course. It was also one of the sample test questions they hit us with.

Good to know ;)

When I did my Foundation, there wasn't a question on it that I recall, but obviously that was because it was before they changed the rules.

What was most fun was when I was studying the Standard/Advanced Regs ... we were in the middle of learning the old regs when the new ones were published. Fun for all! :P
