Any idea what an "Evidentiary Certificate" is?

Post by robbage »

According to the "ACMA Lady" I spoke to today, ACMA will issue me with an Evidentiary Certificate to replace my missing NAOCP because novice doesn't exist any more. So I asked her what do I do with this 'EC'? "Umm I'm not sure." I ask her what the current equivalent of novice is. It's "Standard" licence, but she has no idea why she can't just issue a "Standard". So when I get this 'EC', I don't know what I do with it or if it's a 00 licence to kill or what :? I'm guessing I might have to present it to some entity that will then issue me with P plates.

Either way, they needed the original date of issue as best I knew, so I had to put "1977 I think."

I'd suggest that when you get the EC you then contact ACMA letting them know that you have the EC and ask if they could re-issue you with a callsign. You'd need to pay for the annual licence of course.

No harm in asking and hope it helps. :D

It's a certificate stating you used to have a certificate. Not the sort of thing that looks nice framed on your wall. It says I passed NAOCP in June 1978. I guess that makes me one of the Good Old Boysâ„¢ :(

Hopefully will be on air in about 2½ weeks.

Cheers, thanks!

Nice to see you've got yours sorted out as well. Welcome back to a life of poverty since you'll be on the hunt for new radio gear all over again! :)

Now ... about your account ... I noticed in the user admin panel, your account "robbage" had somehow become inactivated. I've set it back to "active" again - see if that's fixed it!

Tap tap.. is this thing on? Thanks. Working.

As a technophile and father of two girls, I'm already broke. Good thing HF isn't productive at the moment.
I picked up a 2/70 handheld yesterday just for starters, so expect a lot of stupid questions… <oldtimer>back in my day, the spectrum ended at 10m. VHF hadn't been invented yet</oldtimer>

BTW these handheld antennas suck, don't they.
