Hi All,
i wondered if any one has some answers to these questions, i am looking for a combined VHF + UHF waterproof handheld radio, the only one i have found a in the USA. It is a FRS VHF combination but looking at the list of frequencies i don't think it will work on our UHF.
Are FRS, GMRS radios from the USA usable here ?
Does anyone know of a combined VHR, UHF, waterproof handheld ?
I use my UHF when fishing from the kayak to talk to other kayakers but i quite often head out a fair distance and would like the VHF for safety reasons.
Thanks for you help
Keza

No. American FRS/GMRS radios aren't legal to use in Australia.
When you say VHF and UHF are you talking about 2m and 70cm or UHF CB... all your Kayaker friends have amateur licenses?Does anyone know of a combined VHR, UHF, waterproof handheld ?

There are a few waterproof UHF CBs around and there's one Yaesu handheld I know of that's waterproof VHF/UHF but its amateur band only.

Yes they would or should have licences for the VHF but the ones with UHF would just be a dick smith or motorola walkie talkie style radio.
So a UHF CB then. I think GME make a waterproof one.
