In my browsing of the ACMA website VI and AX are approved for special occasions. To me AU would have made more sense but there may be another reason.

AU is not in our callsign prefix allocation. It has been allocated to India.

Yep, twas fun. Especially being able to use "AX6FZDB Marine Mobile" on the way back from Rotto
I must say though, once you've gotten used to saying "VK6xxxx" it's easy to get tongue-tied by AX

How big does a body of water need to be for "marine mobile"?

I think it's a good idea too, but I don't understand the Kenwood at all so it will rely on Simon finding some time and enthusiasm... I'll work on him
