In my browsing of the ACMA website VI and AX are approved for special occasions. To me AU would have made more sense but there may be another reason.

AU is not in our callsign prefix allocation. It has been allocated to India.

Yep, twas fun. Especially being able to use "AX6FZDB Marine Mobile" on the way back from Rotto :P

I must say though, once you've gotten used to saying "VK6xxxx" it's easy to get tongue-tied by AX :)

It's that time of year again next Monday. http://www.acma.gov.au/WEB/STANDARD/pc=PC_1255#AllAX :A
I expect to hear AX6FLUX and AX6FNRD Marine Mobile Mt Helena! It's supposed to be 42° last I heard.

I reckon you might be in luck, though the handies don't get out too well from here. Might have to yell into the shack :D

What about that cross-band repeater idea? I reckon that should work.. assuming f-calls are allowed.. not sure.

I think it's a good idea too, but I don't understand the Kenwood at all so it will rely on Simon finding some time and enthusiasm... I'll work on him
