Damn those spies - can't keep anything quiet around here :)

I did ... Standard Theory and Regs down, and with a truckful of luck, Advanced Theory by the end of the year :P

If ACMA are kind to me, I'll be VK6LAN in a few weeks once they process my Standard paperwork.
Goodluck with it mate, Ive heard that the advanced licence is hard. :?

Haha thanks guys!

I wouldn't say the Standard was "easy" but it thankfully wasn't quite as challenging as I originally thought.

The Advanced licence though I think is going to be a whole different story. Still, I'm going to enjoy giving it a shot!

But ... who else here is keen on getting their foundation licence?

The requirements are pretty easy, and any keen scanner enthusiast could probably do the course and pass the exams without too much trouble. And of course, it's a bit of fun too! :P

Do we have a favourite HF frequency Warsugers with licenses can meet on. Say 80 metres in the evening?

If you have a foundation licnce limited to ten watts of RF, does that mean it is not allowed to go over 10 watts ERP? (Effective Radiated Power) depending on the type of antenna you have.

Its 10 watts out the back of your radio.

A 3db antenna would give you 20 watts ERP.
A 6dB antenna would give you 40 watts ERP.
A 10db antenna would give you 100 watts ERP.

Me! I've just decided to do it today - a workmate has offered me a radio that was her late fathers, so I'll need to get licensed (nope, don't have any info on the radio itself as yet).

So where to from here? Get the book and enrol in one of the weekend courses/exams?

*sigh* unfortunately getting my HAM license doesn't get me a pay rise, so I figure once I've done this next microsoft exam I will continue going through the 2 cd's I have and then sit the exam for my standard license. It's something that I really want to do! Another reason to add another aerial to my car :P as if it isn't hard enough to spot a mile away as it is! :D  (3 Door Getz with 2 aerials over the bonnet :P)

Amateurs call them antennas. Non-amateurs call them aerials.
