Re: Foundation Licence

Post by Bonez »

Yay I got my callsign back. I accidentally let it expire earlier this year and had to go through the process of applying for it again through the WIA and ACMA.
I don't have any amateur radio gear at the moment but I'm chasing some down at the moment just to get me on the air. I'm hoping to get a 2m Quansheng from VK6NX as well as a mobile boot mount + high gain antenna. That will be enough to get me going!

I'm in Bunbury now but the word on the street is that VK6RMW (Mount William) will be IRLP enabled soon, so I will be able to have a chin wag with some of youse in Perth again :)

Cheers

Ham College ran another Foundation course this weekend, with eleven students.

Three students stayed back after class today to do their assessments, due to prior commitments on the exam day next Saturday, and all three passed with flying colours.

That's a good number. Did you have any extra helpers up the front by any chance?

Certainly did - thanks to Meg VK6FLUX and Danny VK6ZUK for coming down yesterday and checking things out from the instructor's side of the table. Look forward to both of them coming on board in a training capacity ;)

And another Ham College Foundation course was held this weekend, with nine students.

Two students completed their exams today with flying colours, the rest will be doing their exams next weekend.

Anyone else interested in enrolling in Foundation classes (or Standard or Advanced for that matter) should check out the website - http://www.hamcollege.com.au

Today was exam day at Ham College with (I think) 5 students passing the Foundation exam, 1 passing Standard and another Advanced.

Hopefully we should hear them all on air in the next few weeks!

And the folks who sat their Standard and Advanced both also sat for Regs too... A good morning all round, nice to see some upgrades and some new folks coming into the hobby...

Greetings all,

The first Foundation course for 2010 is due to run on the 21st/22nd January at Whaleback Golf Course in Lynwood.

There's plenty of places left, so if you've been thinking about getting an amateur licence, (perhaps it was one of your New Years Resolutions? :) ) then you should take the plunge and act swiftly to make sure you register in time!

See http://hamcollege.com.au/ for information on who to contact, etc.

EDIT: If you're thinking of doing the course, please make contact with Ham College by Sunday night, as the training material etc all has to be prepared and finalised so a fair idea of numbers needs to be known ;) If there's not enough people showing interest in the January course, then it may not run.

There's now enough enrolments to ensure the course will run, but there's still room for more if anyone's interested!

Please contact Ham College via the contact details on their website, or send me a PM or email for more information :)

Ham College held an open exam day today. Eight people attended, with five staff. Nobody went home empty handed, everyone passed something, be it regulations or theory.

Congratulations to all who sat an exam and passed, and thanks to the assessment staff for making it all happen!
