Yes, i agree. Digital is the way to go. I use several digital radios and have done so for 4-5 years and have never looked back at FM. You just cant compare the 2.

The Price???
A digital radio will set you back over $1000 for low end model and for a top end, well over $2500

Things are a little bit cheaper in the amateur world, but not much. APCO 25 is what the emergency services are using (VKI is using it for their digital system).

D-Star is a similar but incompatible digital format being pushed by Icom.

But I can't play with D-Star on my F-call amateur licence... Yet another reason to upgrade to the standard :)
