System Fusion Yaesu Stuff

Post by Nosferatu »

Has anyone own or played with Yaesu FT1DR with the System Fusion Repeaters ? I am thinking to get one ... Should I wait for the new one to come out FT2DR ? I know it is going to be super expensive ...

I have the Yaesu FTM-400 Fusion radio, the codec is better than D-Star in that it recovers from interruptions to the data stream more quickly i.e less "RD-D2"
In Perth VK6RTH 146.800 MHz is a Fusion / FM repeater but there are not many Fusion users in Perth to QSO with.

Fusion shits all over D-star.There are 3 of us south river using it.Well 1 at the momment 2 of us have had to send our new ft-991s back for repair. The distance you can use them on simplex with no break up is amazing compared to D-star.55km on simplex signal 5-9. Audio sounds natural not compressed and robotic like D-star.I can recommend it.Cheers Grant vk6ngs

VK6RTH is Fusion. VK6UU knows a fair bit about them if you wanted to get in contact with him. VK6RTH will swap between digital out/analog out depending on the input signal.

I tuned in to VK6RTH and heard some noise that sounded like white noise for a long period ... Was that a digital signal at work ?

If you have the abilit, add 123hz CTCSS for that repeater on receive and you won't be bothered when digital is in use.
