I thought the Southern Electronics Group were running Foundation classes but I can't see any info on their website. Might be worth
contacting them anyway.

The SEG have run Foundation courses in Mount Barker before but I don't know if they have any planned for 2013.
The only organisations in WA who regularly run amateur courses are the Scouts and Ham College.
The Ham College courses run over a Saturday and a Sunday, with the exams the following Saturday. (For people coming to Perth from the country an exam can be run directly after the course in a lot of cases.)
The course dates for Foundation training through Ham College for 2013 are:
Saturday & Sunday 16-17 February (FULLY BOOKED)
Saturday & Sunday 20-21 April
Saturday & Sunday 22-23 June
Saturday & Sunday 31st August – 1st September
Saturday & Sunday 19-20 October
If you're interested in registering for a course, contact Ham College via their website at
http://hamcollege.com.au/
The other way would be to study online if coming to Perth isn't a workable idea. The Radio and Electronics School in Queensland have some free online tutorials and even a smartphone app for Android. Check out
http://res.net.au/ for more info.
Please let me know if you want any more info about getting your licence.

There's no option for me down here in Busselton either and I can't do constant trips to the city to accomplish this license which I really want to do.
Cheers

Contact Ham College. They can possibly do the foundation course and exam in one weekend if it can be arranged between you and them. Got somewhere to stay overnight?

Hi Oz.
Ham College runs a Foundation course over a weekend and we've had people from various country towns come to Perth and stay overnight in a motel on the Saturday night so they can do both days and not travel home and back twice
If we know that people have had to travel a fair distance, we'll do what we can to accommodate an assessment after the course on the Sunday. (We try not to do that unless we have to as it turns a long weekend into an even longer weekend for our trainers and assessors but if we know beforehand we can accommodate one or two people that way.)
If you'd like more info, please contact me by PM and I'll help where I can.
Cheers,

Following on from my previous post, the course on the 20/21 April is full. We have a maximum number of students we can train in one sitting and there's already that many names registered to attend.
The following course on the weekend of 22/23 June only has two or three registrations from memory so there's still room for a few more.

I may be able to do the October one, but the others clash with my roster. I'm a FIFO worker.
Cheers
