Amateurs growing in number

Post by Zebedee »

It's good to see that more people are getting their amateur radio licence, or are upgrading to a higher level.

Ham College is pleased to be doing its part in advancing amateur radio education in Western Australia.

For the 2011 calendar year, we've had 35 people complete Foundation courses, 8 on the Standard and 4 on the Advanced course.

During the six scheduled exam days through the year, we've completed 35 Foundation assessments, 13 Standard theory, 13 regulations, 4 Advanced Theory and 4 stand alone practical exams.

None of this would be possible without the enthusiasm of the volunteer trainers and assessors who give up big chunks of their "amateur radio play time" to be involved in instructing and testing candidates.

Things are also looking up for 2012 with expressions of interest in courses at all three licence levels. There's 8 people wanting to do a Foundation course, 8 for combined Standard Theory and Regulations, and one so far for Advanced theory in the second half of the year.

Hats off to all the volunteers that dedicate their time to training / exams.

I might be due for an upgrade in 2012.. :)
