Can you use 6 metres on a Foundation license?
Hi Meg,
Not on a Foundation licence no... The available bands are 80, 40, 15, 10, 2 metres and 70cm.
The 6m band will have to wait for the upgrade to Standard

Thanks Zebedee - that's ok then - the big Yaesu that I have does from 10 down to 160.
I think I have talked my other half into a trip to Prestige Comms on the weekend to start looking at antennas for it

Average life of a computer: 3 years
Average life of an amateur radio set: 3-30+ years
At least AR gear lasts longer

Up there with the guitars then! Though I do have an awesome acoustic from the 70's that has actually appreciated in value

They're a bit of a pain. Most of the buttons do many things depending what mode you're in and whether you press/release or press/hold and how far you stick your tongue out. The 7R has a numeric pad which is something the 3R doesn't have and should. Selecting a random freq between 500kHz and 1GHz is a lot of fiddling. Have you tried receiving the 6 metre FM repeater on 53.800 MHz? I wonder how well you receive it from your location with that stubby antenna.
