It's been on and off quite a bit for the last few weeks. Some times it's there, some times doesn't exist

So I used my new antenna last night, after a bit of stupidity mounting it in the afternoon
. Basically 2 nuts are supplied with the base which I got from WACB. For some reason I decided I needed to leave one nut for the bottom of the bracket and one for the top. Of course I was then wondering why the antenna wouldn't go on, doing some troubleshooting with some other PL-259 plugs I have. Anyway got that sorted got the car outside to where I normally park it, for a radio check with Robbage VK6LED.
Roleystone comes through clear for the most part certainly I can now maintain a conversation on it after I've turned off the engine. Walliston...well Walliston now responds to me and I can be heard but there is a bit more interference.
Havent' tried the others yet but I head Wanneroo ident when I was driving last night. VK6HAK and VK6FRJA both able to hear me for my whole trip.
I think I'm up to commandment no. 14 now
...Thou shalt not try and argue with an experienced advance call and Standard call on antenna quality! haha Thanks for the prodding VK6ZMS, and robbage, well worth the $$$.

Good to see it all work out....eventually.
I am thinking of marketing the "Aussie Gainer".
A vertical shaped into the map of Australia.

...isn't that just a coat hanger? I thought they came standard with holdens, what with being Australian and all?

Dick Smith had them in one of his catalogues back in the '70s and it was called The Co-Tanger part number F-001

All of my stuff arrived today also. But alas, bent antenna (which I've bent back to almost 100% what it should be) and the Z brackets (straight ones) have zero hope of working on my Commodore (even though I made a point, several times of asking for ones that will suit that make/model specifically).
*sigh*

'eh if they can't send you the right brackets send it back with a note saying "are you stoopid? I asked quite specifically for these ones...".
Bummer about the bend. Would that not be claimable under the insurance?

I wouldn't have known it was previously bent if you hadn't said so. You did a good job straightening it. That's an awkward car to mount an antenna on at the rear

Thanks for your help today robbage! I think I suffer similarly all the way up here to meg.. distance and not enough hamsters (yet!).
For those interested..
When the boot is open, there is about a 1cm gap (if that) between the tip of the antenna and the body of the car... ouch! (and yes, I know my car is dirty!)
