Only because you could not find what you were looking for. :D

I only bought raffle tickets so a cheap weekend for me too.
Caught up with many whom I had not seen or heard for years. Very pleasant.

The thing I miss with the old Hamfests, like when at Carine, are the demo's. I know there are probably not the clubs around like then but the clubs or individuals set up a demo of what their interests were. Was good to see some of the various aspects of amateur radio being demonstrated. Can remember pedestrian foxhunts, SSTV, RTTY, Packet, satellites and others all on show. Oooooops, there I go reminiscing again. Bad habit I have gotten into recently. Back into your cave Blinky :-({|=

I agree with you Blinky. Last year was my first fest in 30 years or so and sort of expected demos and a station being operated. An APRS and PacketBBS station would be easy to set up and being of interest to hams and non-hams
