Simple, try 14.100-14.300 (use USB) and 7.000 - 7.100 (Use LSB.) There are other freqs but they're the most widely used here and abroad.

40 meters will give you a contact most nights. If you listen to 7.092 MHz
8pm Perth time on Wed Fri & Sat you will hear a net. You probably won’t hear any Perth stations but a dozen or VK2 VK3 VK4's log in, even the odd DX contact

there all talked on, just 40m is probably the best one to listen to right now. it gives you a good wide range, 80 not so good at day but good at night, 40m a good all round, 20m good day reasonable night, 15m good day resonable at night. But typical HF it can always change.

40m is very active at the moment so best trying there.. anything above 7.050mhz (below that is usually CW)

That's a good one to practise on and you can try it out on 10m once your radio arrives.. just needs a little trim. What power rating is your balun?

Depends on the price you can get and delivery time (if from the east coast) too. 2 weeks ain't that long - and you can perfect your dipole in the meantime :)
