Re: APRS - spy on me while I drive
With the Tic Hill digipeter being off-air, APRS packets are taking some interesting paths
This morning, a packet from my work in the CBD went from Perth to 6KSB near Harvey, to 6RAW in Katanning and then to 6MT's gateway...

I heard 6RAW voice repeater ident a few times today. You won't impress me until you show me a path through VK5

Re: APRS - spy on me while I drive
I saw some packets tonight from VK6HGR in the northern suburbs go via VK6WB -> VK6RLK -> VK6RAW -> VK6MT as well as via VK6KSB -> VK6RAW -> VK6MT. Now that is taking the long way! The path between VK6RLK and VK6RLK does appear to be quite frequent.Zebedee wrote:With the Tic Hill digipeter being off-air, APRS packets are taking some interesting paths

The APRS digipeater at Mt Barker should be operational in the next few weeks and I will be I-gating temporarily for a few weeks so it will be interesting to see how many packets go in via this route.

Around lunchtime today I was up at Mt Barker Hill and from the car beaconed some packets through VK6KSB-3 to VK6HGR. (270km from me to VK6KSB-3)

Good to see a bit of APRS activity starting up in Bunbury.

Yes good to see VK6KCH-3 digipeater on air from Bunbury and VK6ADF-9 driving around. The digipeater might need a bit of fine tuning to its settings, as does VK6RAA-3 which I'll get around to one day!VK6ZMS wrote:Good to see a bit of APRS activity starting up in Bunbury.
Maybe VK6ADF can tell us a bit more about the setup & future plans.

Re: APRS - spy on me while I drive
I'm doing some experimenting with 6m APRS this weekend. 53.025MHz if anyone wants to have a go.

Re: APRS - spy on me while I drive
I don't expect there will be too much activity from down around Bunbury. Does not really seem to be much activity of any description. I have dabbled with APRS on and off for a few years but only in as much as running UI-View and watching what was going on. Finally decided to do something about it.VK6LD wrote:Yes good to see VK6KCH-3 digipeater on air from Bunbury and VK6ADF-9 driving around.VK6ZMS wrote:Good to see a bit of APRS activity starting up in Bunbury.
I set my weather station to send data to CWOP a couple of months ago which is what shows up (actual location changed to protect the guilty but within a few hundred metres) on APRS.
When I got my MT-AIO during the week, I set UI-View to send received data on 145.175 to the net which is why VK6KCH-3 appears now. It has been going for a while it seems but invisible. My UI-View to the net is only running occassionally when I want to try something out and not going to be a long term thing.
