That's one thing I like about the 'new' WIA. They're a lot quicker than they used to be! I waited around 8 weeks for my exam marks. (but back then I could apply for the license in person at the Perth ACMA office...)

Congrats Simon! You two will have to alternate between HF and VHF/UHF. If there are any arguments, I'll send you to your room.

Yeah congrats to Simon and to the others who passed their various exams today.

I have a sneaking suspicion though that the paperwork won't quite make it through the various departments before Christmas ... but maybe I'm just a pessimist :P

Bloody showoff ;)

Yep very well done on the regs and standard theory pass. Now that'll give the WIA and ACMA some grief, processing the same person a week apart. They'll be getting a sense of deja vu ;)

Foundation

Post by orangepeel »

just passed my foundation - Just waiting for my callsign to appear on the acma website

In the mean time - i am about to order some gear and hope to have it setup around the same time my callsign comes thru.

What node is the best in chatting to you over there in the west. I hope to have a HF setup soon - but in the mean time - i was going to try and chat via irlp - just need to figure out the node and then i'll be chatting to you from the east coast

Congratulations! The WIA and ACMA have been powering through the paperwork recently, so hopefully it won't be too long.

For IRLP, I'd try either node 6200 - VK6RFM in Fremantle, or 6772 - VK6RVP in Victoria Park.

Congratulations mate!
Hopefully one of these days I'll get round to programming in my 7800 in my car and then I can listen to a repeater other than our roleystone repeater.

For anyone still interested in sitting their Foundation course and exam, I believe there's still plenty of room on the January course... Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th Jan.

If you've been meaning to get around to it, now would be a very good time before the exam fees rise steeply in February, according to this announcement from the WIA. (Going up from $35 to $67 - eeeeeeek!)

Hehe good question. The WIA have been a bit tricky though with the wording on their page, it says the new price applies "on the day of assessment", not on the day of payment :(

G'day Again

From home - i cant access the local IRLP - will have to go mobile to do that - however i can hit a Echolink station

I cant find a Echolink node for Perth - or surrounding areas ... is there one ?

Found many for IRLP - but nothing for Echolink ....

Any tips ?
