The west australian repeater group (WARG) has a 2m repeater located at Cataby, for those of you who don't know. It's about 170km north of Perth and is located on top of Yandan Hill, about 2km south of the Ampol servo in Cataby (aka middle of nowhere!)
I went up there in the trusty work car the other day, (I work nearby) and took some photo's with my phone. Just thought some of you may be interested to see what a repeater site looks like.
It was quite scary going up in a 2WD ute, a 4WD is absolutely on the cards next time!
The whole thing is solar powered. There is no mains power for a long way.
It's also been discussed that there's a possibility of linking the Cataby repeater back to a Perth repeater in the near future. It was set up like this in the past but for some reason it was taken down. (Maybe due to failure of equipment, Gavin knows more!)
Anyway, the quality is not all that great, but here's the piccies!
