I've got a Sangean ATS606 - http://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/ ... /3319.html

Similar to the 505 but it doesn't have a BFO for SSB signals. Until recently it was my main shortwave radio (my new amateur rig is wideband receive). Excellent performance all round but really needs an external speaker as the inbuilt one is small and tinny.

Like all radios it could do with more memories and alpha tagging would help but other than that I'm really happy with my Sangean.

I have and recommend the Sangean ATS 909. No idea why such a good radio would RIP, rather sad really. Hope you have good luck. You will like the fact the ATS 909 has a narrow filter to stop the high pitched squeals and a gain control. I never use my ATS 505 since having the 909. Hope this helps!
