Cheap radio stuff at Dick Smith Balcatta

Post by robbage »

Dick Smith Balcatta reduced their prices of radio stuff a while back. I saw today that they have cut the new prices by around half again. There are CB antennae (UHF and 27MHz), scanner antennae, antenna bases, mikes, mike holders, roo bar brackets and other misc. Everything had markdown prices. Make sure you let them know it's discounted.
Somebody was looking for a decent 27 MHz whip. They had one 1.5m helical for $7, same one I bought for 28 MHz for $23 a while back.

Not that I could see Yorky. I think it's just the stuff they no longer wish to stock.

Dropped by again. Definitely no supercheap scanners, CBs or handhelds.
Yesterday I picked up a speaker/mike for Uniden for $5 and pulled it apart to make sure it was hackable. Now works ok in my Yaesu handheld so I bought 4 more :-) Also picked up one of these Benelec super-adjustable antenna bases for $10. Good value.

Heh I went past tonight as well, mostly just antenna's left. Bought a couple of spares, $10 and $7.

Cheap stuff also at Claremont Dick Smith. Antennas, bases, cables etc. Mostly 27MHz antennas and a few BNC scanner antennas. Everything I bought was $5 including a $29 mag mount and a 15 metre coax (RG 58u) with PL259 either end. No cheap radios :?
They also had a table full of 'lifestyle gadgets' like Satnavs, piles of 4GB media players for next to nothing and cheap digital cameras.
