Hey all.

While I have been in scanning for a few years now, and have sort of have a clue what I'm doing.. However I have never actually understood weather scanning.. My scanner has the baility to moniter these frequencies.. something about SAME. I believe they are encoded transmissions, and you haev to have software on your computer the decipher these tones, and transform them into a weather map?

Can someone please explain to me how exactly how to scan weather channels, what SAME is, and what the frequencies are?

Cheers.

Do you mean weather fax that can be received on the aircraft band ( around 137 mhz)and decoded as a mean sea level weather map . These weather maps are also broadcast on several hf frequencies around 16 mhz .

I think he means the WX function available on most scanner. It's only available in Canada.
