Trunking systems
I was just wondering if I had a non trunking scanner could I hear normal conversations on a trunked system?

From my understanding so long as your scanner can receive the mode they are transmitting (analogue or digital) then you can program it in. If by chance the radio's choose the frequency you've programmed in to use for a particular series of transmissions, then yes you would be able to here it.
However i believe if you have a trunk scanner you can set the frequencies and the particular talk group you want to listen to and it will not receive the others.
