Hi all,
I'm the proud owner of a brand spanking new Uniden UBC93xlt scanner and I live in High Wycombe.
Santa brought me some vouchers for christmas and I decided to spend them today!
So far I have tuned in to my fellow neighbour, the bleading obvious (airport!) as well as some rail frequencies (Forrestfield and Midland) but am looking for a bit more to listen to.
I have programmed in a couple of FESA freqs but none of them are extremely clear in my area.
So... any Midland folk or other local yocals in my area got any suggestions on some good things I can hear?
Cheers Bonez

Absolutely. I have been doing a bit of research and I think I will head into Midland tomorrow and grab myself a "Mobile One Bandspanner" from DSE as well as a mobile base to stick it on.BFB LT1 wrote:Bonez

I live in a rental so can't really put up any antennas, but I do have a wonderful massive patio on which I can whack the antenna right on the top.
So far the airport has been very disappointing, and I think it's due to the super high voltage power lines that run down Roe Highway (they are on the other side of the road, but still very close to me).
UHF signals are rocketing in, even with the rubber ducky antenna.
BFB LT1, are you located near me at all? If so, can you advise me on what sort of antenna setup and which FESA frequency you normally listen to?
Thanks
Bonez

Thanks mate, just about to look the frequency up right now.WPXZBP wrote:Try FESA WAERN channel Red Hill 1.

Re: New scanner, what to listen to?
Definitely try 164.000 and 163.250 for FESA.

Bonez im located in Jandakot so not to far but i little bit of a distance i listen in to 6IP and the Air attacks on 78.350Mhz low band and 80.850Mhz high band for 6IP and 78.325Mhz low band and 80.825Mhz high band for the air attacks on a Mobile one 700mm long 27Mhz to 1.3Ghz range outdoor antenna ( with the addaptor to go to BNC on you're scanner )

78-80MHz are all mid-band frequencies. The new WAERN frequencies are classed as high band.

Re: New scanner, what to listen to?
I did notice the new mid range network freq's for FESA but also seemed to note the lack of metro freqs for us city folk in the list.
As far as I understand (and I am quite possibly wrong), the metro FESA is still on ~78mhz.
Gav you might know more about this, not too sure.
Cheers

It is. They are however simulcasting the 78MHz network onto the metro WAERN channels. The stream radio is actually on a WAERN channel now.Bonez wrote: As far as I understand (and I am quite possibly wrong), the metro FESA is still on ~78mhz.

Re: New scanner, what to listen to?
The Esperance area was first to get it, Great Southern are being rolled out presently. Next might be the South West, I'm not sure though.
