Just found your post :)

I have AIS receivers set up on the Queensland Gold Coast and in Sydney, currently feeding via VK2HIM. See maps of Gold Coast and Sydney here http://aprs.fi

Would be keen to see a station set up in Perth and share the data worldwide.

Anyone near the coast with a scanner and a pc with sound card can do AIS.

The scanner probably needs a simple discriminator tap mod:
