Campbell Barracks Swanbourne Antennas

Post by w0mbat »

There are two really big arrays that I have always wondered about.

They look like a couple of really big Yagi's that are motorised, sometimes pointing East, and other times North.

Anyone have any info on these?

Cheers

They are Log Periodic antennas, these are broadband hf antennas that can be pointed in any direction either give gain or null interference. They are used by 152 squadron / SASR I beleive

The Logs used now are from the old VIP station at Gnangara. They were involved with Maratime.

These 152 Squadron Antennae were originally on top of the Hill North of the Firing Range. They were moved down to the barracks as the land they were on was turned into public open space. If you know where to look, you can still see some of the concrete foundations used up the hill.
