what are the 800 and 900 mhz frequencies used for

why would a scanner include the 800-900mhz frequencies?
does anyone know what the 800 and 900 mhz frequencies are used for?

digital trunking freqs are in that range and so are mobile phones aswell

right becuase ive been trying to tune into those 800-900 frequencies on selected mobile towers from the acma database, and (not that il hear anything becuase its scrambled) basicly theres no transmittions on those frequencies weather they are scrambled and high pitched encrypted sounds or not.

So why are you trying if there scrambled ?

here in wa motorola apco 25 is used the following freqs ranges
tx 820.0125 to 824.9875
rx 865.0125 to 869.9875

there are 200 channels.
the only place it is used is in perth
the main users are Ozitel network pty ltd , comunica pty ltd , ministy of justice , memo communications pty ltd , vetical telecoms , city of wanneroo , city of joondalup , burswood resort

its come to my attention becuase how can mobile phones operate if there arnt any active 800 or 900 mhz freqencies?
