I ordered a few RTL-SDR usb's the other day, and decided to see what I could decode on digital.
Hardware: RTL-SDR.com sells some good products. Go for the shielded dongles.
Software: FMP24 and DSDPlus-Fastlane (There is also a free copy, but it not updated anymore. Lifetime membership is only $25USD).
A few channels I've found so far, it's a bit confusing to understand who or what they are:
493.6125 - Mostly Transperth buses. The fleet number of the bus is usually the last 4 digits of the radio id. Eg 822601 = bus 2601 etc.
505.7625 ?
491.8625 ?
491.7 ?
492.4625 ?
492.375 - Car Hire/Airport?
504.2375 ?
505.7625 ?
506.275 ?
507.15 ?
464.375 ? talk about cats??? Airfreight company perhaps?
463.6 ?
507.2625 ? volunteers?
Hope this helps get others started... very interesting hobby again.
PS. You can NOT decrypt or listen to WA Police. If you listen.. this is what you will get:
