What can I listen to on a digital scanner in Perth?

Post by numloxx »

Hi all,

I'm thinking of getting a digital scanner and want to know what is there to listen to in Perth?

I still listen to ATC and the Airport Trunking system occassionally, but is it worth going digital? Yes I know that WAPOL is not an option...

Likewise, I have a digital scanner but use it for trunks, would be interesting if there are new things to listen too (although my feeling is there won't be much).
"VKI, NJ050 will you be attending the job?"
"Negative VKI, my desk is bolted to the floor".

There's the airport security which use unencrypted P25 somewhere in the 500Mhz region, but that's all I know of.

Yep I've heard a fair amount of ENC traffic in the old police 64-channel range and a lot of new talk groups on the Central Park trunking system. The police radio system sure is getting a workout this weekend!

For those of you who have digital scanners, the airport fire tenders are on 500.050Mhz and 500.825, both are unencrypted P25 (can be quite interesting at times)

Why don't they just change over to P25 digital instead of TETRA? Does P25 cost too much or are they just worried about the security of their communications?

Stumbled across 465.300 today which was unencrypted P25. They talked about a "pre season fire drill". Turns out it is registered to spotless services which are cleaners at pattersons oval.
