Antenna Setup - Help Please

Hi all,

I'm about to setup 3 or 4 antennas on the roof of my apartment building (8 storey block of flats) pending Strata approval.

I intend to setup 3 antennas clamped to this steel pipe.

1: ADS-B Reciver 1090mhz.
2: Airband Receiver 108-138mhz
3: Bandscanner 25-1300mhz.

I intend to attach the 3 antennas using U-bolts to the steel pipe.

Any suggestions or tips before I start spending money?

Looks fantastic - where is the apartment block located?

Don't skimp out on the cable. Make sure you buy good quality low loss stuff, but I'm sure you already planned to do that

Well the ADS-S cable comes with a Pre-Amp and a DC Injection, so only have to run 1 cable for that, but the others I'm not sure about?
Am currently running RG58C/U to the 4th floor balcony for my Airband and Scanner antennas and I get decent results.

Oh yeah, apartment block is in Maylands.
Hoping to get excellant ADS-B Coverage from this as Line of Sight is 360 degrees

I'd go even better than RG213 if you can afford it, especially for UHF.

For airband RG213 would probably be OK, depending on the feed length though of course. I'd stay as far away as possible from RG58

I'm estimating cable lengths will be 20m or so.

From experience these roof vent pipes are quite thin walled and light duty. They are also not well anchored to the roof structure.

Your ADS-B antenna will probably be OK, but with anything heavier they will bend and buckle in stronger winds if not guyed or braced.

I would look at a couple of these screwed down to the roof purlins/rafters. (Coach bolts or larger tek screws)

For cable look at LMR400 or CNT400 if possible, otherwise RG213.

hi. Unfortunately because its not my roof, the install must not be permanent and must be easily removed. Thats why im going for the pipe clamp. It will only have the small adsb antenna at the top and a thin airband antenna halfway down then the bandscanner antenna lower down.

Use the existing screws holding down the sheets...? It's not too difficult at all.
