Re: So how do they know?
How does the train pick up the up or down line cameras?

The DAV cameras are constantly on and recording 24/7written_ficton wrote:If they were on all the time, how would they pick up the camera's??? It's not like they have cameras all along the track... or do they?Always RX wrote:I had imagined that the cameras would broadcast all the time..but you raise a good point, they may only be triggered as required. I'll keep that in mind.

Re: So how do they know?
The DAV Camera's and and in train Station Announcements are triggered by the trains location
Re: So how do they know?
Anyone know a rough frequency for these DAV cameras? I've been searching constantly when trains go by but nothing yet...
It would really help if I could narrow it down to a certain frequency range.

I am afraid I am unable to help here.Bonez wrote:Anyone know a rough frequency for these DAV cameras? I've been searching constantly when trains go by but nothing yet...

Though on a side note I managed to squeak a peak into an A - Cab this afternoon in Claisebrook. The video they see from the platform is truley amazing.
Anyway, AO11912 can you please take off your lightbar in your signature, it is quite annoying.

Re: So how do they know?
They trains use a leaky loop which in essence is a low powered video system using an inefficient antenna (to reduce reception range). The video from the platform cameras are transmitted to the driver and usually fades out just as the train pulls away from the train station.
My mate who is a driver explained it to me and I have been in the driver's cab a number of times and seen it in action. Is it how the driver knows when to close the doors by monitoring passenger movements on the platform.

If it causes you grief then go to your user control panel and turn off the displaying of signatures.AO11912 wrote:Nowritten_ficton wrote:

There are 10 types of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those who do not.

Re: So how do they know?
Sorry to dig up an old thread, but does anyone know roughly what frequency range I would need to scan around to pick up DAVS?
