Wowsers I didn't even see that coming. Reading on the changes it appears Path will no longer be doing many if any runs, and Swan are taking over up to Whitfords Ave to the north and everything past that Veolia Transport.

If anyone finds any more frequencies used and their designation please let us know, I was an avid listener. I know 470.375 on ACMA is Fornaro Investments as they do a lot of radio designations.

Regarding Perth metro trains, are different areas on different channels/controllers?

I've just put all the PTA frequencies into a group and I'm not sure what the go is there, then of course there are the rail guards and customer service but how do you tell them apart from ACMA listings?

No. Metro rail is all linked together, and there are two main channels carried on lots of frequencies - The train control channel which is Metro control talking with train drivers, and security which is PSAs, tickets, security etc.

Just pick the best freq for each channel that you hear.

Transperth Metro Train Control are the ones you want I believe, I haven't checked these myself yet.

So I read there are changes to Path Transit bus areas, and noticed they are using their old radio channel again as well the normal Morley channel.

Anyone know exactly what is going on and what the channel allocations actually are as of late and the areas covered?

Hi Yorky, It's like what happened last year with the Marmion/Wanneroo contract changes, this time round sWAn transit lost the Kalamunda/Belmont (which include Welshpool & Kalamunda depot's) contract to PATH Transit. The changeover date is tomorrow (7/10/12), from what I hear this contract last's 10 years. As for radio channels, I imagine the 473.675 frequency, previous Kalamunda depot channel and 474.725, previously Welshpool depot will no longer be in use.

So from waht I've heard PATH Transit Morley & Bayswater depot's now on the old 490.900 and at a guess Kalamunda depot are going to transmit through 490.450, I haven't heard any Welshpool buses on either of these channels yet so possibly a new channel Is being used. All the other operators and channels remain unchanged to my knowledge.

What do the little signs at the bus stations mean? You know the ones with the led displays with the time and then the +a1 etc?

This confuses me as well... My guess is that the signs operate according to timetable preloaded in their system and assumes the bus follows it to the second. In which case "a1" and such would display how long the bus has been at the stand (Assuming that a stands for arrived)... otherwise I'm just as clueless as you are

I think it's displaying train arrival times for connecting services, so that if a train is running a minute or two late then the bus driver knows and may wait a while.
